Victor Harbor’s Mainstreet Precinct the best in regional SA
Victor Harbor’s Mainstreet Precinct has been named the best in regional SA at the 2014 MainstreetSA Awards.
Held at the National Wine Centre on Wednesday, 8 October 2014, the Awards recognised the great work done in mainstreets across the State, highlighting the importance of mainstreets and their role in the local community.
In receiving the accolade, Victor Harbor was particularly praised for the extensive range of activities delivered to support the Mainstreet Precinct including the introduction of a new business directory, networking events, newsletters, streetscape branding and promotions.
The title of regional SA’s best mainstreet is a great reward for the Traders who are the backbone of the Precinct. However, there are many others who have made an important contribution to this achievement including the volunteers who tend the garden beds and remove graffiti, Elected Members and Council committees, event organisers, community groups, members of the public who support the Precint and Council staff.
Congratulations to all involved in this great achievement!

Are you a Community Champion?
The City of Victor Harbor is recruiting Community Champions to help with a City Branding project that looks at Victor Harbor’s identity and how we present ourselves.
Known as ‘place branding’, the project is about capturing the essence of our identity, not changing it, to help us better communicate why Victor Harbor is a great place to live, work and play. This project is not just about tourism, it’s about how we present ourselves on all fronts including attracting new residents, businesses and investment in our community.
Community involvement is key to the success of the branding strategy and the establishment of a Community Reference Group will help Council ensure that everyone has a voice. The group will champion the project and drive engagement activities using their community networks.
If you are passionate about our community and want to help capture the voices of Victor Harbor, download more information at www.victor.sa.gov.au/champions.
