Encounter Rhyme and Storytime - Preschool Program

Encounter Rhyme and Storytime is a fun and interactive session designed for children from 0 - 6 years of age. This is a free program which includes a combination of singing, dancing, craft, activities and story time.

Please remember to wear your 'craft clothes' as craft and/or sensory activities are often full of messy fun!

The same weekly program content is run on Tuesday's at 9.45 am and Wednesday's at 10.30 am, during each term. Each session is approximately 45 minutes in length and it is a wonderful opportunity to socialise for both children and parents alike.

Baby Bounce

Baby Bounce is a program developed for parents and babies aged 0 - 30 months. It consists of 20 - 30 minutes of songs and rhymes with a sensory aspect. The sessions are interactive, fun, and beneficial to both caregiver and child.

Singing and rhymes are a part of early literacy. Singing develops your child’s communication, voice development and helps with their emotional well-being.

Sessions are held Friday mornings from 9.45 am to 10.15 am.

Little Bang Discovery Club

Young children are already great scientists without even knowing it.

This fun-filled four week, hands on program combines everyday objects and experiences with genuine scientific enquiry methods that children and their accompanying parents will thoroughly enjoy. Best of all, everyone will have a Little Bang Discovery Box to take home each week with a load of exciting items and activities to explore between sessions. The program concludes in week four with a graduation ceremony for the junior discoverers.

The Little Bang Discovery Club four week program is run during terms two and three. The program is free but bookings are required. Book here

Suitable for ages 3 to 6 years. Guardian supervision and participation is required for the duration on the session.

School Holiday Programs

The Victor Harbor Library runs an array of school holiday activities. The programs are listed on our Events page at least two weeks prior to commencement of each holiday break.

You can visit us all year round; there are always 'Stay & Play' activities in both the Youth and Encounter Kids' Space.

Children's University - Approved Learning Destination

Children cannot aspire to what they don’t know. The Children's University’s aim is to encourage children to try new experiences outside of school learning activities, and recognises their achievements through the award of formal certificates.

How to get involved

Currently Children's University membership is based around a child's school, and the school has to be registered with Children's University for the child to be able to participate. The Children's University program aims to provide extra-curricular learning opportunities for children aged between 7 - 14 years.

The Victor Harbor Library is an approved 'Learning Destination'. Qualifying learning activities held at the library will be promoted with the Children's University logo.
