Waggon Road Safety Improvements

The City of Victor Harbor has carried out vital upgrades to sections of Waggon Road, with an aim to improve safety for motorists.

Road construction was undertaken over three years, with all works complete by May 2023.

Most recently in 2022/23, the section of Waggon Road between Day Road and Basham Road (including the intersections of Fuller East, Basham and Yalla Doola Roads) was the subject of an upgrade. Works in this section involved widening sections of the existing sealed pavement from 6m to 6.2m, with kerb and gutter on the western side and a 0.5m wide sealed shoulder on the eastern side.

Other safety improvements that were completed as part of the Waggon Road upgrade included:

  • Improved pavement width and delineation of junctions and bends
  • Advisory speed signs on both approaches to the bends
  • Improved and consistent delineation along the road length with traffic signage
  • Improved sight lines with the removal of roadside vegetation where practical and achievable
  • Improved lighting at the junctions
  • New line marking.

Funding for this project was provided by the Federal Government's Black Spot Program.
