The City of Victor Harbor is developing a South Coast Future Ready Strategy that aims to shape who we are as a community, and who we want to be in the future. Our aim for the Strategy is to set out a practical set of actions relating to housing, jobs, education, services and liveability that support a balanced and sustainable future for Victor Harbor and the South Coast.
Why this matters for our future
Our region is changing rapidly. We are welcoming new residents, seeing housing pressures increase, and experiencing shifts in our local workforce, services and community needs. At the same time, the South Coast continues to have one of the oldest populations in Australia, which places growing pressure on health care, employment, housing diversity and long‑term sustainability. Planning now means we can protect what we value while preparing for the future we want.
What the Strategy will help us do
The South Coast Future Ready Strategy will bring together community knowledge, lived experience and local data into a clear, practical plan for action. It will guide how we:
- support more diverse and affordable housing
- attract and retain workers across local industries
- create stronger education and career pathways
- improve services, facilities and local liveability
- strengthen community connection, belonging and leadership
It’s about ensuring everyone can live well here at every stage of life.
