Bluff Boat Ramp Toilets
In early 2023, the City of Victor Harbor constructed a new public toilet block to service visitors to the Bluff Boat Ramp area.
The Bluff Boat Ramp is an increasingly popular launching destination for both local recreational boaters and those visiting from across South Australia. Over many years, our community expressed a strong desire for new toilet facilities near the boat ramp.
Public toilet design
For some time, the Council had been working towards a suitable design and location for the public toilets, incorporating ongoing advice from State Heritage as well as feedback received from the community during consultation in early 2021.
A simple toilet block design was selected as it achieves a small footprint, minimal visual impact/obstruction to the surrounding environment, and cost effectiveness.
The toilet block features two separate cubicles, including one designed to enable disability access.
A new disability access park and ramp has also been installed in the parking bay just before the boat ramp exit. A range of landscaping works were also undertaken at Bert Puxley Reserve surrounding the toilet block.
Timeline
Construction for the Bluff Boat Ramp Public Toilets commenced in January 2023 and was completed in March 2023.
Budget
Construction of new toilet facilities at the Bluff Boat Ramp was identified as a key planned activity in the Council’s 2022/23 Annual Business Plan with $110,000 allocated to the project.
The project was supported by grant funding from the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.
