The City of Victor Harbor is encouraging residents to support local families and individuals this Christmas by donating food, gifts and essential items to the annual Victor Harbor Christmas Appeal.

Delivered in partnership with the Salvation Army, the appeal helps provide practical support to people in the local community who may be struggling to make ends meet during the festive season.

The foyer of Council's Civic Centre at 1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor has again been transformed into a donation collection point, with residents invited to contribute new gifts, non-perishable food items and everyday essentials.

Mayor Moira Jenkins said even a small donation could help brighten someone's Christmas. "Christmas is an exciting time for many families, but we know it can also bring extra financial pressure," Mayor Jenkins said.

"The Christmas Appeal gives us an opportunity to look out for one another and help local people who may be finding things tough this year.

Whether it's a toy, some pantry staples or a gift voucher, every donation is appreciated and helps ensure families have a little extra support over the holiday period."

The appeal relies on donations from residents, businesses, schools and community groups, with all contributions helping people living across the Victor Harbor area.

Those wanting to donate can find gift ideas and more information here.

Donations can be made until Monday 7 December at the Civic Centre, 1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor, or at the Salvation Army, 22 Bartel Boulevard, Encounter Bay.

People seeking assistance this Christmas, or those wishing to make a referral, can register until midnight on 4 December 2026 by visiting www.salvationarmy.org.au/victorharbor
