Grants, Fee Waivers and Donations

The City of Victor Harbor offers a range of grant programs throughout the year to support the community in their endeavours. The aim is to support projects carried out by individuals, groups and organisations that help to cultivate a vibrant community culture.

Each program has its own application guidelines, selection criteria, application forms and opening and closing dates. The information on this page provides details on each program available.

Donations and Fee Waivers - Please apply through the Community Grants Program for any donation and/or fee waiver requests that were previously applied for through the City of Victor Harbor Donations Policy.

As per the Community Plan, the aspirations for the City of Victor Harbor are:

  1. We are caring, connected and active community
  2. We have a culture of innovation, collaboration and creativity
  3. We manage growth and change responsibly
  4. We protect our environment
  5. We have services and infrastructure that meet our community needs
  6. We are a financially sustainable and well-governed organisation

There are several strategies and priorities that sit under these aspirations. The Community Grants program aims to support projects or events that help deliver these strategies and priorities.

The program accepts applications from:

Individuals – up to $400 for individuals to support professional development (in areas such as Sports, the Arts, Academia or Community Participation and Leadership) and/or participation in regional, national or international level competitions.

Individuals – up to $1000 for the reimbursement of Development Application fees for heritage-listed buildings with the City of Victor Harbor.

Groups – up to $2000 to support Community Organisations or not-for-profits deliver projects or events that help meet the strategies and priorities in Council’s Community Plan.

Groups – up to $150 to supports Community Groups with events that celebrate and recognise volunteers. The funding limits for these activities are - $50 - up to 10 volunteers, $100 - 11-20 volunteers and $150 - 20+ volunteers.  Please note: This is in lieu of the previously offered Volunteer Week Grants.

Opening and Closing Dates

Applications under the Community Grants Program will be assessed and awarded on an ongoing basis.

Aims to facilitate and develop major events that boost social and economic benefits for the community, in line with the Community Plan 2030 and Culture Strategy: Festivals & Events 2023-2027.

The Major Festivals and Events Grant program aims to:

  1. Develop and attract major events in Victor Harbor throughout the year
  2. Emphasise off-peak periods to boost visitation and economic activity
  3. Stimulate economic growth in the local area
  4. Enhance social benefits for the community
  5. Strengthen the area’s brand image as a premier destination
  6. Improve community well-being through engaging and high-quality events

$30,000 is allocated annually to support the Major Festivals and Events Grant Program.

Eligible Events:

The program supports major events taking place in Victor Harbor throughout the year, with a strong encouragement for events held in off-peak periods.

The program supports events that attract more than 500 people (participants and spectators combined), with at least 50% of attendees coming from outside the Victor Harbor region.

Minor events (with fewer than 500 attendees) grant applications will be considered through the City of Victor Harbor’s Community Grant Program.

The City of Victor Harbor is committed to the cultivation of a vibrant community culture. One way in which the Council supports and facilitates arts and cultural activities is through the Art and Culture Grant Program.

A total funding pool of $10,000 is allocated annually budget to support the Arts and Culture grant program.

Through this program, the City of Victor Harbor seeks to:

  1. Support and provide opportunities for arts and cultural organisations, groups, collectives and individuals to deliver innovative creative arts and cultural activities;
  2. Increase community participation in arts and cultural activities;
  3. Strengthen the identity and profile of the arts in Victor Harbor;
  4. Facilitate activities that contribute to public spaces and/or promote cultural vitality, creativity and connection within the city.

If you are seeking funding for professional development or minor/ongoing arts and culture initiatives, please apply through the Community Grants Program.

The City of Victor Harbor Sport and Recreation – Strategic Infrastructure Grant Program aims to encourage active lifestyles in the local community by supporting organisations to provide high-quality, inclusive, and accessible sports and recreation infrastructure and facilities that benefit the Victor Harbor community.

Program Objectives

Provision of high-quality, inclusive, and accessible sports and recreation infrastructure and facilities, that result in:

  1. Improved safety outcomes
  2. Are more accessible and inclusive
  3. Have a positive response to climate change and environmental sustainability.
  4. Improve efficiency resulting in a reduction of costs associated with delivering and participating in sport and recreation.
  5. Increase in the number of participants and/or groups able to utilise the space.
  6. Increased with the activation resulting in positive economic outcomes

Funding applications for both minor sports and recreation programs/initiatives and for individuals to undertake professional development/attend high-level competitions will now be considered under the Community Grants Program.

Budget

Funding per application/applicant is capped at $20,000 to support the development of accessible and fit-for-purpose community sport and active recreation strategic infrastructure.

Co-contribution

Applicants are expected to contribute at least 50% of the project cost. The contribution can be either cash or in-kind.

Hills and Coast Grant Finder

The City of Victor Harbor has teamed up with RDA Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island and surrounding councils to deliver the Hills & Coast Grant Finder.

This platform is a regional solution for individuals, community groups, businesses and organisations to find grants, manage grant applications and even receive email alerts when new grants are released.
