Grants and Sponsorship

The City of Victor Harbor offers a range of grants and sponsorship programs throughout the year to support the community in their endeavours. The aim is to support projects carried out by individuals, groups and organisations that help to cultivate a vibrant community culture.

Each program has its own application guidelines, selection criteria, application forms and opening and closing dates. The information on this page provides details on each program available.

The City of Victor Harbor Sport and Recreation Grant Program aims to encourage active lifestyles in the local community by supporting organisations to deliver sporting or recreation opportunities for the benefit of the Victor Harbor community.

Program Objectives

  1. Provision of high-quality, inclusive, and accessible sports and recreation infrastructure and facilities.
  2. Reduction in costs associated with delivering and participating in sport and recreation.
  3. Increase in the number of participants in sports and recreation activities.
  4. Increase in local economic impact associated with the activation of sports and recreation facilities.
  5. Development of infrastructure and facilities that have a positive response to climate change and environmental sustainability.

Streams

  1. Individual / Group – up to $400 for individuals or $1000 for groups to assist with professional development and/or participation in major organised sporting events.
  2. Minor – up to $1000 for organisations to increase participation in sport and recreation.
  3. Major – up to $20,000 to support the development of accessible and fit-for-purpose community sport and active recreation strategic infrastructure. The applicant must match the grant amount.

Applications are now open for the Individual, Group and Minor grant streams. These applications will be assessed and awarded on an ongoing basis until the budget is exhausted.

Applications received under the Major grant stream closed on Friday, 23 February 2024. They will be assessed in March 2024 and presented to the Council Members for consideration and final decision in April 2024. Applicants will be notified of the outcomes shortly thereafter.

Calling for applications soon

The City of Victor Harbor is committed to the cultivation of a vibrant community culture. One way in which the Council supports and facilitates arts and cultural activities is through the Art and Culture Grant Program.

A total funding pool of $10,000 is allocated annually budget to support the Arts and Culture grant program.

Through this program, the City of Victor Harbor seeks to:

  1. Support and provide opportunities for arts and cultural organisations, groups, collectives and individuals to deliver innovative creative arts and cultural activities;
  2. Increase community participation in arts and cultural activities;
  3. Strengthen the identity and profile of the arts in Victor Harbor;
  4. Facilitate activities that contribute to public spaces and/or promote cultural vitality, creativity and connection within the city.

Council’s Volunteer Week Small Grants Program aims to encourage and assist community groups to celebrate and recognise the contribution of their volunteers during the annual National Volunteer Week.  Grants can be used to fund a range of “thank you” celebrations such as a morning tea, certificates of appreciation, a barbeque, or a small gift.

This year, three grant sizes are available - $50 for community groups with up to 10 volunteers and $100 for groups with 11-20 volunteers and $150 for community groups with more than 20 volunteers. 

Celebrations will need to be held during National Volunteer Week 20 - 26 May 2024.

Applications closed on Friday, 5 April 2024.

Council’s Community Wellbeing grants are available annually to assist not-for-profit community groups and organisations to provide services that improve the quality of life and independence of people within the Victor Harbor community.

In the past, grants have been provided for equipment, maintaining community buildings, community health initiatives and training.

Applications opened on 25 January 2024 and closed at 5pm on Friday, 5 April 2024.

The City of Victor Harbor is committed to fostering a vibrant festival and event culture that delivers economic, social and promotional outcomes for its community.

The Festivals and Events Sponsorship Program provides financial and in kind support to eligible groups and organisations to assist in the staging of quality events and festivals that support the outcomes of the City of Victor Harbor Community Plan 2030 and Festivals and Events Policy.

A total funding pool of $45,000 has been allocated in the 2023/24 budget to support the delivery of festivals and events in Victor Harbor through the Festivals & Events Sponsorship program.

Applications are highly encouraged for events that:

  1. Increase visitation and overnight stays to Victor Harbor
  2. Are held in the off-peak season (April to September)
  3. Promote Victor Harbor as a premium coastal destination
  4. Offer a quality event experience for visitors and the local community
  5. Create collaborative opportunities with local groups and businesses
  6. Activate Council’s parks and reserves, or built facilities
  7. Employ environmentally sustainable practices
  8. Are financially sustainable

Round One applications opened 25 July 2023 and closed at 5pm on Friday 1 September 2023.

Round Two applications opened on 25 January 2024 and closed at 5pm on Friday 29 February 2024.

The City of Victor Harbor has teamed up with RDA Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island and surrounding councils to deliver the Hills & Coast Grant Finder.

This platform is a regional solution for individuals, community groups, businesses and organisations to find grants, manage grant applications and even receive email alerts when new grants are released.
