Southern Communities Transport Scheme

SCOTS Brochure

The Southern Communities Transport Scheme (SCOTS) is a Community Passenger Network. We provide door-to-door pre-booked transport, both locally and to the Adelaide area.

Transport can be for:

  • medical appointments
  • social activities/groups
  • shopping
  • visiting family and friends

Our accredited volunteer drivers and commercial operators can transport people of all ages in accredited vehicles.

SCOTS is also a transport information resource for the region. Please contact the office to discuss what transport services are available for the Fleurieu Peninsula.

About the service

Our fleet is comprised of accredited comfortable air-conditioned vehicles. A wheelchair accessible vehicle is available.

Our accredited volunteer drivers and commercial operators can transport people of all ages in accredited vehicles.

Bookings

Bookings are essential for all services. You will be advised of the applicable fee at the time of booking. To ensure that transport can be provided, at least three business days’ notice is required. We are not able to provide regular ongoing transport for education/employment purposes.

People aged under 65 (or under 50 for people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) can call the SCOTS office at (08) 8551 0760 to register.

People aged 65 and over (or 50 and over for people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) need a referral from My Aged Care. My Aged Care is the entry point for all government funded aged care services. To register, call 1800 200 422 (free call) or you can register online at myagedcare.gov.au. A My Aged Care assessor will either come to your home to have a talk about your needs or provide you with a transport referral code. Once referred you can contact SCOTS directly when you need transport.
People receiving government funded support from another source, such as Home Care Package (HCP) or National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can contact the SCOTS office directly to register.

You are eligible for SCOTS assistance if:

  • you are unable to drive yourself, do not have family or friends that can assist, do not have access to public transport or are temporarily transport disadvantaged for other reasons.
  • you live in the City of Victor Harbor or Alexandrina Council (excluding Strathalbyn and surrounding areas).

All ages are welcome. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Residential aged care home residents are ineligible.

Operating days

The service operates Monday - Friday. Public holidays are excluded, however essential appointments may be considered.

All services are subject to volunteer and vehicle availability. Eligibility and conditions apply.

Volunteers

Our incredible volunteers are the wheels that keep our service rolling! Our volunteers fill a number of important roles including drivers, shopping bus attendants, vehicle cleaners and office assistants. Without our valued volunteers, the service wouldn't be possible.

SCOTS would like to sincerely thank our team of volunteers for their time, effort and kindness. The outstanding service they provide is very much appreciated by the community.

All drivers undergo police clearances, driving assessments, medical checks and an induction as part of their application process.
