The City of Victor Harbor’s Chief Executive Officer, Victoria MacKirdy, has advised Council of her decision to move on to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Local Government Association of South Australia (LGA SA).

Ms MacKirdy addressed Council at a Special Meeting held on Thursday, 30 April 2026, noting the decision to move on to the new role had been made following significant reflection.

“This has been a difficult decision,” Ms MacKirdy said.

“It has been a privilege to lead the City of Victor Harbor and its amazing team that work with such dedication to support our wonderful community.”

“I am incredibly proud of what we – elected members, staff and community – have achieved together over the past eight years, leaving the Council in a strong position and the community well placed to thrive well into the future.”

“Victor Harbor and the Fleurieu remain my home and hold a special place in my heart. I will always be a champion for this region and the important role that local government plays in building strong, thriving communities.”

“This next chapter is an exciting opportunity to take that commitment further, drawing on more than 30 years of local government experience to support councils and communities across South Australia.”

City of Victor Harbor Mayor, Dr Moira Jenkins, said she was saddened to see Ms MacKirdy move on but wished her well in her new role.

“Victoria has been an asset to the City of Victor Harbor since joining the organisation in 2018 and has built a strong foundation for the City’s future,” Mayor Jenkins said.

“Her leadership has consistently placed our community first and has helped establish strong relationships with regional, state and national partners.”

“We thank Victoria sincerely for her dedication and the lasting contribution she has made to the City of Victor Harbor and our community, and we wish her every success in this next chapter. We look forward to continuing to work with her, just in a different capacity.”

Ms MacKirdy will conclude her role with the City of Victor Harbor on 17 July 2026.

Recruitment for a new Chief Executive Officer will commence immediately to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.
