The City of Victor Harbor has presented a strong case to State Ministers for improved infrastructure and services to meet the growth of our region during Country Cabinet.

South Australia’s Premier the Hon Peter Malinauskas MP and Cabinet ministers visited the Fleurieu Peninsula on Thursday 24 October and Friday 25 October 2024, for various community events and advocacy meetings.

The City of Victor Harbor collaborated with Alexandrina Council and the District Council of Yankalilla to present the region’s excellence, and priorities for State government support.

Mayor Dr Moira Jenkins presented to Cabinet on behalf of the Fleurieu Peninsula councils and said the presentation was well-received.

“We know as a community that we live in a very special part of the world. The opportunity to reiterate this – and talk about our needs and challenges both as a community and region – to our State government counterparts has been very valuable,” she said.

“The presentation was focused on core services and infrastructure that we really need on the Fleurieu – public transport, improved healthcare, housing and childcare.

“We as councils can only do so much, and additional grant funding and State support allows us to provide the best for our communities.

“Being able to promote our vibrant region and put forward our case directly to State government is a win for the Fleurieu.”

The last time Country Cabinet visited the Fleurieu Peninsula was in 2017.

The City of Victor Harbor welcomes further collaboration and connection with both State and Federal governments, for the betterment of our community.
