Victor Harbor businesses are being asked to complete an online survey that will assist the Council and Business Victor Harbor to tailor services, programs and investments that support the local economy.

The Annual Business Survey aims to provide Council and Business Victor Harbor with greater insight into the challenges and opportunities that exist for businesses.

As part of the survey, a standard set of questions are asked of businesses in addition to a series of topical questions. This year, the Council and Business Victor Harbor are keen to hear from businesses on specific areas of increasing business expenses and the extent to which businesses are needing access to a Service SA centre or related government services.

City of Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins said the Annual Business Survey provides valuable data to Council and the business community each year.

“Our small businesses are facing a range of obstacles in these challenging economic times. There is an increasing need for all layers of government to put in place policies and programs that support our business community,” said Mayor Jenkins.

“The information that we gain from this survey will be critical for assisting Council to make informed decisions. It will also help us to design meaningful business support initiatives.”

“We know the success of local businesses has a flow on effect to the Victor Harbor economy overall. Businesses create jobs and economic opportunities for our community.”

“It only takes five minutes to complete the survey, so we ask that businesses please get involved!”

The results from the survey will also be used by the Council and Business Victor Harbor to advocate for the Fleurieu Peninsula when liaising with government and non-government organisations.

The Council and Business Victor Harbor are currently advocating to the South Australian Government for a Service SA centre to be established in Victor Harbor, reducing the need for businesses and the community to travel to Adelaide to access state government services.

Business Victor Harbor Chair Gavin Daniell said the survey is an important research activity.

“It’s critical that we can present key decision-makers with evidence of the challenges, opportunities and needs of our businesses, to strengthen our arguments in advocating for local businesses,” said Mr Daniell.

“Business Victor Harbor reviews the survey responses carefully each year. In recent years we have used the survey responses as the basis of our business support events, seminars and experts in residence program.”

The survey can be completed anonymously with no mandatory requirements for businesses to identify themselves.

To encourage local business leaders to participate, Business Victor Harbor is providing a brand-new iPad mini (standard edition), worth over $550 as a random prize for one lucky business who completes the survey.

Local businesses should keep an eye on their email inboxes for a link to complete the survey. Alternatively, the survey can be accessed by visiting www.victor.sa.gov.au/businesssurvey or www.businessvictorharbor.com.au

Surveys must be completed prior to 5pm on Friday, 7 February 2025.
