Stallholders at Events

We’re delighted that you’re interested in bringing your stall or food van to our exciting events in Victor Harbor. Our community events are a fantastic opportunity for local businesses and mobile vendors to showcase their products, engage with the community, and be a part of what makes Victor Harbor so special!

Council Policy on Trading at Events

The City of Victor Harbor values the diversity and energy that local businesses and mobile vendors bring to our community events. To ensure a harmonious and successful event environment, we have established a Policy on Trading at Events on Council Parks and Reserves (refer Festivals and Events Policy):

  • Local Business Engagement: Due to the proximity of local businesses around many of our parks and reserves, event organisers are required to invite adjacent businesses to participate in the event first. We believe in fostering collaboration and support within our community.
  • Mobile Vendors: If the needs of the event cannot be met by adjacent businesses, event organisers may then engage mobile vendors, with a preference for local community groups and vendors based within the City of Victor Harbor.

This policy aims to create a balance that supports local businesses while providing opportunities for mobile vendors to contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of our events.

Information for Event Managers

If you are planning an event on public land near local businesses and wish to have stalls or food vendors, you must invite adjacent businesses to participate in the event first. If you determine that local businesses cannot meet the event’s needs, you must contact Council to seek permission before engaging external mobile vendors.

Applications from Stall Holders

When a need for stall holders has been identified, and applications are being sought, the selection of stalls by event organisers should follow these guidelines:

Selection Criteria:

  1. Diversity and Variety: Stalls should offer a diverse range of products and align with the goals of the event.
  2. Non-Competition: Products should not directly compete with existing local businesses adjacent to the event.
  3. Local Support: Preference is given to local community groups and stall holders based within the City of Victor Harbor.
  4. Community Focus: We encourage event organisers to follow these guidelines to meet the needs of their event while supporting our community.
