Comment on the draft Urban Growth Management Strategy
You’re invited to a Community Open Day to provide feedback on our draft Urban Growth Management Strategy.
The City of Victor Harbor has been embarking on a review of its Urban Growth Management Strategy (UGMS), to guide growth to 2050.
We heard from our community and key stakeholders earlier this year regarding the direction they wished for Victor Harbor’s growth, and their valuable feedback has shaped the draft UGMS and points of action within it.
With the draft document now available for viewing online and at the Civic Centre, Council would like to invite the community to attend a session at the Council Chambers on November 14 and 16 to discuss in-person the future of our coastal city.
The half-hour sessions are a chance to provide valuable insights to a member of the UGMS project team.
City of Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins said the Urban Growth Management Strategy was an opportunity for both Council and the Victor Harbor community to take agency over how the region will develop.
“Our Urban Growth Management Strategy is an important step in declaring how we want our town to evolve in the future," she said. “Growth is inevitable, however the Urban Growth Management Strategy is an opportunity for us to manage that growth while protecting what we love about our region.”
Chief Executive Officer Victoria MacKirdy said the timing of the draft UGMS consultation was ideal, as it coincides with the State Government-led Greater Regional Adelaide Plan (GARP) consultation.
“The UGMS is Victor Harbor directing how we wish to grow. It is our Council and community providing evidenced-based, local strategy to our State counterparts to place ourselves in the best position we can to evolve on our terms,” she said.
“I encourage our community to have their say on Council’s draft Urban Growth Management Strategy, and I also encourage them to contribute to the State Government’s GARP consultation.”
