Motor Vehicle Display Events

Reserve Hire Fees

  • Vehicle Display up to 4 hours: $0 (no charge)
  • Vehicle Display per day: $100 (discounted rate)
  • Reserve hire per day: $200 (standard rate)
  • Esplanade car park: POA.

Is there a hire fee for vehicle displays?

For Vehicle Displays under 4 hours, there is no hire fee, provided that Council does not need to mark-up irrigation. Therefore, any marquees or signs must be weighted down rather than pegged.

What additional costs are associated with the event?

A bond of $300 is required prior to the event. This bond ensures compliance with the setup requirements and will be refunded after the event, provided no damage occurs.

What documentation is required?

You will need to provide a site map showing your intended use of the reserve and a copy of your current public liability insurance. Our booking system will prompt you to resupply if your policy expires before the event.

Booking Process

1. Book Early:

2. Permit Application:

Complete the permit questionnaire form once you select your location and date. Provide event details including date, time, nature of the vehicle display, and any infrastructure you plan to set up.

3. Insurance Requirements:

All vehicle displays require current public liability insurance with a minimum value of $20 million. Provide a copy of your insurance when booking, and you will receive an automatic reminder if the insurance expires before the event date.

4. Local Police Notification:

If your event includes a vehicle cruise, notify the local Victor Harbor Police of your event and planned route before the event.

Reserved Parking Requests

Requests to reserve car park spaces will be evaluated during the application process. Given the proximity to local businesses, not all requests may be approved due to potential impacts on trading conditions. We will make every effort to accommodate events.

Requests for equipment

Due to the high volume of requests, the council is unable to provide equipment such as bollards, cones, or bunting as in-kind support unless the event has been approved for in-kind support through a Council grant.

Organisers will need to supply their own equipment or contact the local Historic Motor Vehicles Club, which may be able to assist.

Council Support

Mayoral Attendance:

Requests for mayoral attendance are welcome. Email Council Member Admin Support at localgov@victor.sa.gov.au. Early requests are recommended.

Fee Waivers and Minor Event Funding:

Requests for fee waivers, donations, and minor event funding (for events with fewer than 500 attendees) are available through the City of Victor Harbor's Community Grant Program. Please note that fundraising events may not eligible for this support.

For more information, visit City of Victor Harbor: Grants or email grants@victor.sa.gov.au.
