Have Your Say: Draft 2015/16 Annual Business Plan and Budget

Draft 2015/16 Annual Business Plan CoverThe City of Victor Harbor is seeking your feedback on its draft 2015/16 Annual Business Plan and Budget.

The $24.4 million expenditure budget delivers a surplus of $179,100. The proposed budget aims to balance services and capital works to meet the needs of our community while keeping rate increases as low as possible.

The draft 2015/16 budget shows Council undertaking major infrastructure works including year one of the Fleurieu Regional Aquatic Centre construction, Stage 1 of the Mainstreet Precinct redevelopment and Stage 1 of the reconstruction of Ocean Road, while delivering the lowest average residential rate increase in a decade.

On average residential rates will increase by 2.9%, resulting in the average ratepayer paying an extra $0.92c per week. Council’s rate revenue will increase by 4% including growth.

Connect with your Council

Elected Members 2015

The City of Victor Harbor is making it easier for you to get involved in local decision making.

Council will be hosting a series of listening posts in the coming months, enabling people to talk face-to-face with Elected Members and council staff about their ideas, aspirations and concerns for Victor Harbor.

The listening posts are a part of a broader Your Council, Your Say campaign that centres around making council more accessible to the community through a combination of online and face-to-face engagement initiatives.

The first listening post will be held on Saturday, 23 May 2015 at the Victor Harbor Farmers’ Market where Elected Members will be on hand from 9.30am to 11.30am to talk about the draft 2015/16 Annual Business Plan and Budget, and any other issues community members have questions about.

The Council will also be at the Whale Time Playtime Festival from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, 31 May to talk about Council’s place branding consultation and other council matters.

Those that can’t make it to a listening post can check out Council’s new online engagement portal, www.yoursay.victor.sa.gov.au, which enables people to comment on council consultations 24/7. It also enables a more creative approach with the ability for the community to share photos, videos or music clips, as well as written responses.

More listening posts will be scheduled later this year. Keep an eye out in future editions of Victor Viewpoint for more details.
