Have Your Say: Representation Review

Elector Representation Review Consultation Extended until 8 February

Don’t miss your chance to have your say in Council’s elector representation review.

The review looks at the Council’s current representation structure and considers whether changes would provide greater benefit to the community.

The review covers the method by which the Mayor is elected, number of councillors and structure for the election of councillors (wards or no wards).

After considering the results of the first round of public consultation, Council is seeking your feedback on the following proposal:

  • The principal member of Council continues to be a Mayor elected by the community;
  • The existing ‘no wards’ structure be retained; and
  • The future elected body of Council continue to comprise nine (9) area councillors.

A Representation Report, which sets out the proposal and rationale for the decision (including details of the submissions received in the first round of consultation), has been prepared for the community to review and provide feedback on.

Visit the Civic Centre (1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor) or www.yoursay.victor.sa.gov.au/representationreview to view the report and other background information, and provide your feedback.

Public consultation closes at 5pm on Friday, 10 February 2017.

Have Your Say: Asset Management Plans

Have your say on Council's draft Asset Management Plans

Council is seeking community feedback on its draft Asset Management Plans.

The Council is responsible for infrastructure assets worth close to $279 million. These assets are central to the Council continuing to deliver services to the community.

The Asset Management Plans detail information about infrastructure assets including actions required to provide an agreed level of service in the most cost effective manner. The plans outline the services provided, how they will be provided and the funds required to deliver the services.

View the draft plans and provide your feedback online at www.yoursay.victor.sa.gov.au/amplans or at the Civic Centre (1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor).

Public consultation ends at 5pm on Friday, 20 January 2017.

New rules for cat owners

Cat Registration

The City of Victor Harbor has introduced new rules to help with the management and control of cats in the council area. These rules came into effect on 1 January 2017.

The new rules mean cat owners are required to register their pets, and also involve a limit on the number of cats able to be kept on a premises. To assist with the introduction of this initiative, Council has agreed to a three month moratorium on cat registration. This means that 2016/17 registration will be free of charge for residents who register their cat between 1 January and 30 March 2017.

Find out more about how to register your cat and the limit on cat numbers by downloading our 'Frequently Asked Questions' fact sheet or visiting www.victor.sa.gov.au/cats.

Further inquiries can be directed to Council's Animal Management Team on 8551 0500.
