2014/15 Annual Business Plan and Budget Adopted
The City of Victor Harbor’s 2014/15 Annual Business Plan and Budget was adopted at a special meeting on Monday, 7 July. The $22.9 million expenditure budget delivers a surplus of $170,300, and aims for a balance of services and capital works that meet the needs of the community.
“The budget is about getting the balance right – keeping rate increases as low as possible while still being able to invest in the future of our city,” said City of Victor Harbor Mayor, Graham Philp.
On average rates will increase by 5% which will result in the average ratepayer paying an extra $1.58 per week. The average residential rate increase is 4.4%.
The 2014/15 budget includes a Capital Works Program worth $6.8 million for projects including the Ocean Road reconstruction, Stage 2 of the Bay Road upgrade and architectural design of the Fleurieu Regional Aquatic Centre.
Other significant projects in this year’s budget include funds to commence the design and documentation of a nominated stage of the Mainstreet Precinct Master Plan and the allocation of $336,000 to carry out coastal management initiatives.
