Have your say: Draft 2014-15 Annual Business Plan and Budget released for public consultation
The City of Victor Harbor has released its draft 2014-15 Annual Business Plan and Budget for community feedback.
The $22.8 million expenditure budget delivers a surplus of $201,000 and aims for a balance of services and capital works that meets the needs of the community.
The budget includes a Capital Works Program worth $6.6 million, approximately 30% of Council’s total budget, to maintain and improve our roads, footpaths, bikeways, community buildings, parks and gardens, as well as the planning and development of new infrastructure like the Fleurieu Regional Aquatic Centre.
On average rates will go up by 5% which will result in the average ratepayer paying an extra $1.58 per week. The average residential rate increase is 4.4%.
A public information session will be held on Monday, 2 June 2014 from 5.30pm at the Civic Centre, 1 Bay Road Victor Harbor. The session provides a chance for the community to ask questions or get more information about the draft budget.
To download a copy of the draft 2014-15 Annual Business Plan and Budget or to provide feedback visit www.victor.sa.gov.au/haveyoursay. Hard copies are available for viewing at the Civic Centre.

Introducing Finn, our new horse
We are proud to introduce Finniss, or Finn for short, the newest member of the team at the Horse Drawn Tram.
The winning name was suggested by Jay of Middleton who suggested Finn after the name of our electoral district, Finniss.
There was also a personal connection to the name for Jay as her family used to breed horses in the town of Finniss.
We received many great entries from members of the community and the team at the horse tram felt that Finn was the perfect fit for our new addition.
Finn will now undergo some training before he starts pulling the tram to and from Granite Island.
Next time you are down at the Horse Drawn Tram why not see if Finn is in the resting area. He’d love to see you!

Our Library voted SA's favourite
The Victor Harbor Public Library has been named SA’s favourite library in a nationwide competition run by the Australian Library and Information Association.
More than 200 libraries across Australia entered the competition in which the public could vote for their favourite library by phone, text and online.
‘We are thrilled to be named South Australia’s favourite library – it is a fantastic accomplishment,’ said City of Victor Harbor Director of Corporate and Community Services, Kate Jessep.
‘We could not have achieved this without the great support from our patrons and volunteers who voted.’
The winners were announced on 19 May to launch national Library and Information Week.
City of Victor Harbor Mayor Graham Philp said the title was well deserved.
‘Victor Harbor is lucky to have such a great library with dedicated staff and volunteers who work hard to deliver a top quality service for our community,’ said Mayor Philp.
