The Master Plan aims to provide a framework for the future development of this site with a focus on a more collaborative approach in terms of facility provision and layout. It will also contribute to healthy outcomes for the community, and will be a key document to assist in securing funding for any future upgrades.

The Encounter Bay Sport and Recreation Precinct Draft Master Plan (and feedback forms) can be downloaded online or hard copies can be viewed at the Civic Centre, 1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor.

All submissions need to be received by Council before 5pm on Friday, 11 March 2016.

New SA Whale Centre Exhibit Celebrates Kondoli Dreaming Story

Last week the South Australian Whale Centre launched a new exhibit that celebrates the Ramindjeri dreaming story of Kondoli (the whale story).

The Kondoli exhibit has been four years in the making with representatives from local Indigenous groups – the Aboriginal Youth Action Committee, Ramindjeri Heritage Association and Miwi-Inyeri Pelepi-Ambi Aboriginal Corporation (MIPAAC) – playing a key role in its production. Production of the exhibit commenced early last year after securing funding from the City of Victor Harbor and Country Arts SA, as well as sponsorship from Parnell Electrical.

The exhibit tells the story of Kondoli, the whale man, who brought fire to his country. The vibrant and eye-catching illustrations depicting the story were designed by local artist Barbary O’Brien and graphic designer Katrina Allen, in consultation with local Indigenous groups.

The Kondoli exhibit  can be viewed at the SA Whale Centre between 10.30am and 5pm daily.

Mainstreet Easter Hunt

Mainstreet Easter Hunt 2016

The Mainstreet Precinct Easter Hunt will be held on Saturday, 26 March 2016.

Little adventurers (and their trusty big helpers) will have the opportunity to take part in a treasure hunt that weaves through Victor Harbor’s Mainstreet Precinct.

The hunt will commence from 10am at Warland Reserve.

As well as receiving lots of goodies and treats along the way, those who complete the hunt will also have a chance to win a cool FujiFilm Insta 8 Camera gift pack.

Numbers are limited to 400 participants, so if you don’t want to miss out it might be a good idea to get to Warland Reserve early.

We’ll see you there!

Recreation and Sport Small Grants Scheme

The City of Victor Harbor provides a small grants program to assist recreation and sport groups to make a positive contribution to recreation and sport development in the district.

Grants will not normally be greater than $1,000 ($400 for individual grants), although each year one project may be funded for an amount which exceeds the above limit.

Non-profit organisations and individuals based within the City of Victor Harbor are now invited to submit applications for the second round of this grants program.

Applications for the Recreation and Sport Small Grants close at 5pm on 4 March 2016.
