Register to attend a composting workshop with Gardening Australia presenter Sophie Thomson
Gardening Australia presenter Sophie Thomson will be hosting composting workshops in Victor Harbor in the lead up to the implementation of fortnightly kerbside waste collection.
The workshops are a part of the Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority's (FRWA) education program to encourage the use of the green organics bin and home composting for the disposal of Food Organics and Green Organics (FOGO).
Two workshops will be held in May 2019:
- Saturday, 18 May 2019 from 10.30am to 12noon at Carrickalinga House (17 Torrens Street, Victor Harbor). Click here to register for this session.
- Monday, 27 May 2019 from 2pm to 4pm at Carrickalinga House. Click here to register for this session.
As a part of the support to the community in the transition to fortnightly kerbside collection, Council and FRWA are making kitchen caddy kits (kitchen caddy and 1 roll of compostable bags), compost bins and worm farms available at a 50% discount to City of Victor Harbor ratepayers and residents. Compost equipment can be purchased from Council offices and the FRWA Waste and Recycling Depot, Goolwa. This subsidy is made possible through a Food Waste Incentives grant from Green Industries SA.
