20% increase in green waste recorded in 2022/23

Positive results for the 2022/23 financial year show the community's ongoing commitment to reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

The Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority has shared a number of kerbside waste collection statistics from the 2022/23 financial year. The numbers show that Victor Harbor residents have significantly reduced the amount of garbage going to landfill.

Compared to the previous financial year, the City of Victor Harbor recorded a:

  • 20% increase to Food Organics Green Organics (FOGO)
  • 4% increase in waste being diverted from landfill
  • 8% decrease in general waste
  • Total of 1,642 tonnes of materials recycled.

Compared to other Fleurieu Peninsula councils, the City of Victor Harbor had the highest increase of waste being diverted from landfill.
