Public Art Commission: 2023 Christmas Decorations
The City of Victor Harbor has an exciting opportunity for an artist or artist team to design a suite of Christmas decorations for installation in the town centre of Victor Harbor.
The decorations being sought under this arrangement will form part of program of public decorations planned by the Council to be installed from early December through the summer festive season.
At this stage, Council is asking artists to submit expressions of interest including a cover letter, resume and examples of previous work. Submissions are encouraged from South Australian based artists or artist teams who have experience working in the public realm.
In the second phase of the commissioning process, Council will engage and pay three artists to submit concept designs and proposals.
The artwork will need to:
- Be high quality and robust (minimum life span of 5 years)
- Be easily installable
- Be appropriate to position in high-volume traffic areas
- Reflect the Victor Harbor ‘Feel it calling’ destination brand
- Draw upon the natural beauty of Victor Harbor
- Look festive and fun, of course!
Following this, the successful applicant will be commissioned to develop their concept through final design, fabrication and installation of their work. The successful artist will be awarded a project budget of $30,000.
