Shoulder widening at Waitpinga Road

Published 16th March 2023
The City of Victor Harbor is undertaking shoulder widening works on Waitpinga Road, between Battye Road and Mill Road.

The aim of this project is to improve safety on a widely used arterial route. A road shoulder refers to the strip of land immediately adjacent to the outer traffic lane. Wider road shoulders can significantly reduce the risk of run off road accidents.

Works that will be completed as part of the project include:

  • Vegetation clearance
  • Profiling of road shoulder to expand width
  • Spray sealing of new shoulder

The Council has engaged Neo Infrastructure to undertake this road upgrade.

Works commenced in early March 2023 and it is anticipated they will be completed in April, subject to any unexpected delays.

While the road will remain open to traffic, one lane will be closed at times to enable works to be safely completed. Motorists should plan ahead expect delays. We appreciate your patience as we carry out this important upgrade.

This project was identified as a Key Planned Activity in the City of Victor Harbor's 2022/23 Annual Business Plan and Budget. It is fully funded by the Federal Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
