Improving Three Gullies Road in Encounter Bay
Currently, Three Gullies Road has a number of degraded areas and potholes, and much of the spray sealed surface has reached the end of its useful life. The aim of this project is to improve safety along an important route that connects some of Victor Harbor's popular tourism areas and is used by local residents, visitors and commercial vehicles.
The section of road being upgraded as part of this project is around 490 metres in length and includes a steep gradient.
Improvements that will be completed as part of the upgrade include:
- Bitumen works, including deep lift patches to areas requiring reconstruction
- Spray seal works
- Safety upgrades to guard railing, including rail adjustments and end terminals
- Shoulder maintenance works
- Storm water adjustments.
The project is funded by the SA Government's Special Local Roads Program.
Road access
Road construction works commenced in mid February 2023 and are expected to be completed by June 2023, subject to any unexpected delays. The works are being undertaken by City of Victor Harbor staff and external contractors.
To enable road works, sections of Three Gullies Road may need to be closed from time to time during the project. Detour signage will be put in place to guide motorists while the road is closed. Council will advise impacted residents in advance of any disruption to property access.
Upcoming road closures include:
- Wednesday, 22 February 2023 - 6am until 5pm
- Thursday, 23 February 2023 - 6am until 5pm
- Friday, 24 February 2023 - 6am until 5pm.
