Giles Street Stormwater Project

The City of Victor Harbor is undertaking a project to address inadequate stormwater infrastructure on Giles Street (from Tabernacle Road to Fell Street) in Encounter Bay.

Project Aims

Poor stormwater systems have threatened homes and infrastructure and led to low-lying flooding on Giles Street, Encounter Bay.

This project ultimately aims to enable a safe, well-maintained, fit-for-purpose drainage system.

Works to be undertaken as part of the project include:

  • Installation of a new underground drainage system
  • Re-construction and re-surfacing of the roadway
  • Installation of new kerb and gutter
  • Installation of a new footpath

The need to upgrade Giles Street is outlined in Council’s Stormwater Master Plan.

Preliminary work for this project commenced in late June 2024. Major construction works are anticipated to commence in July/August 2024 and be completed by early December 2024, subject to any unexpected delays.

Please adhere to all signage and directions in the area to ensure safety for workers, residents and motorists. Traffic management measures will be in place during road closures.
