Encounter Celebrations – Life at sea and the Encounter of Flinders and Baudin.

This evening presentation will walk you through the extraordinary encounter between Captains Flinders & Baudin, detail the information they shared and explore what effect this single event had on Australia's rich history. The chance encounter between these two captains took place in April 1802 and led to the sharing of information that resulted in the naming of many of our coastal features and extensive cartographic work, culminating in the creation of the first complete map of Australia.

Date: Friday 3 April 2020

Time: 5.30 - 6.30 pm

Venue: Victor Harbor Library

This event is Free to attend.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Encounter Celebration is a not-for-profit organisation committed to fostering knowledge and understanding of the role that Matthew Flinders and Nicolas Baudin played in the maritime history of Victor Harbor and of South Australia as a whole; via annual flag raising ceremonies, festivals and associated events.
