Planning and Activation
The City of Victor Harbor’s Planning and Activation Division deliver a range of functions including business engagement, economic development projects, co-ordination of targeted training and business advisory services. The City of Victor Harbor’s Mainstreet program is designed to activate the Mainstreet Precinct – a strategic local business environment. The program engages with the various businesses located within the Victor Harbor Mainstreet Precinct while delivering a range of projects that support the promotion of the precinct.
Visitor Information Centre
Council operates an accredited Visitor Information Centre with accommodation, tour & attraction booking services. The Centre provides opportunity for local tourism businesses to promote their product to over 50,000 visitors that pass through the centre doors annually while exposure is available through the official tourism website encountervictorharbor.com.au . The Visitor Information Centre is located adjacent to the Foreshore Plaza on the Esplanade.
Festivals & Events
The City of Victor Harbor provides significant support to a broad range of Festivals & Events that drive vibrancy and stimulate economic activity within the Victor Harbor community. Those wishing to access Council land, seek sponsorship or advisory assistance for festivals & events occurring in Victor Harbor are encouraged to contact Council’s Festivals & Events Officer on (08) 8551 0500.
Office of the Small Business Commissioner
The City of Victor Harbor is a proud participant of the Office of the Small Business Commissioner's Small Business Friendly Council Initiative and recognises that the Victor Harbor small business community is an important stakeholder.
As a participant of this Charter, Council is committed to:
- Implementing activities to improve the operating environment for small business within Council’s area.
- Establishing a business advisory group (if one does not already exist) to assist Council’s understanding of small business in Council's area;
- Implementing a procurement policy which recognises local small businesses wherever possible.
- Paying undisputed invoices from small businesses within 30 days.
- Implementing a timely and cost effective process to manage invoice disputes.
