Safely dispose of your agvet chemicals

Residents and rural property owners holding unwanted agvet chemicals are encouraged to take an inventory and register the chemicals for safe disposal through the ChemClear collection program which is coming to South Australia later this year.

ChemClear is a not-for-profit chemical collection and disposal service for unwanted and unknown agvet chemicals. By disposing of agvet chemicals through the ChemClear program landowners are minimising the chemicals’ impact on the environment if otherwise left unattended. The service ensures these possible environmental contaminants are retrieved, and in turn reduces waste and the possibility of residual contamination.

Users of agvet chemicals are encouraged to identify the chemicals they are using and storing, assess the chemicals that need disposing of and register them before 5pm on 27 April 2018 for collection by ChemClear in June 2018.

There are two classifications of chemicals collected by ChemClear. Group 1 chemicals are collected free of charge under the program. They are currently registered agvet chemicals manufactured under the Waste Reduction Stewardship initiative.

Group 2 chemicals are those that are no longer registered, unknown, unlabelled, out of date or mixed agvet chemicals. A fee for L/kg applies for disposal unless a state government subsidy is in place.

Bookings are essential, and can be made online or by contacting 1800 008 182. Please note that only chemicals listed on your booking reference will be collected.

Visit www.chemclear.org.au to find out more about the program.
