Join us to support Anti-Poverty Week

Anti-Poverty Week is a national event that aims to encourage as many people as possible to think about what they can do to alleviate poverty and hardship in our community.

To support this initiative and help raise awareness of the issue in our local community, the City of Victor Harbor will be collecting donations of non-perishable food goods for the disadvantaged.

City of Victor Harbor Chief Executive Officer Victoria MacKirdy said it was the fourth year Council was showing its support for Anti-Poverty Week.

“I am really proud that the City of Victor Harbor is involved in this initiative and taking a proactive approach to providing some relief to poverty in our local area,” said Ms MacKirdy.

“If you can spare a carton of long-life milk, a can of spaghetti, baked beans, pasta, or any non-perishable food items, please join us in supporting this cause.”

“Your donations can help make a difference to the lives of many in our community.”

Donations can be made from 14 to 20 October at the following locations:

Donations collected during Anti-Poverty Week will be provided to the South Coast Community Christian Care for distribution to those in need.

Members of the community are able to donate non-perishable food all year round at the Church of Christ and Gospel Centre, not just during Anti-Poverty Week.
